National RAFT Survey of ICM Trainee Research Needs
Following a regional survey in the North East (led by INCARN.NET) a national survey of ICM trainees was conducted, with the support of RAFT, in order to identify trainee research needs but also shed light on the barriers to trainee research.

The regional survey was rolled out in March / April 2016.
Within the Peninsula region, we achieved a response rate of 72%.
Our local results seemed to suggest that there is a trainee appetite for involvement in research however, significant barriers do remain; namely rotations being too short.
The national results were presented by representatives of RAFT at the UK Critical Care Research Forum Meeting on 23rd & 24th June 2016.
Furthermore, the work is being discussed with FICM and NIHR CRN.
